Map 244. Low fidelity interpretation of area surrounding Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. Grid 5496 (top left) to 8267 (bottom right).

Terrain colors.

Brown line - boundary between low and high ground. Interior or up slope is indicated by darker shading.

Light green mottled pattern - low ground clear terrain.

Light brown mottled pattern surrounded by a brown line - high ground clear terrain.

Green tree pattern - woods, scrub, brush terrain.

Dark tint applied to previous colors and patterns - no go terrain for wheeled and tracked vehicles but passable to dismounted personnel. For the most part these areas are no go due to excessive slope. Use the "Map/Terrain Analysis" menu item to get a better feel for the tinting scheme.

Gray - urban. Coded as Rough 1 or Rough 2. Most of the urban terrain in the eastern portion of the map is not solid in the real world but rather is intermittent "canyonized" residential.

Single dotted line - foot trail.

Double dashed line - vehicle trail.

Red line - hard surface, primary road with two or more lanes.

Green double line - expressway.

Medium blue - ocean, pond, river.

Faint white, double line across a river - uncoded bridge site. Bridge markers should be manually placed on these sites by using the "Options/Engineering/ Build Bridge" menu item.
